The One Hour Scarf

Candy had fun modeling it, but this scarf was made for Helene. I blended four different orchid and fuchsia yarns.

It is knit on size 50 Speed Stix needles.

One-Hour Knit Scarf

Lion Brand Speed Stix Size 50
1 skein Lion Brand Fun Fur
1 skein- Moda-Dea Tiara
1 skein Bernat Frenzy
1 skein- Lion Brand Homespun yarn

GAUGE:

7 sts + 11 rows = 6" [15 cm] in garter stitch (knit every row).

Scarf is knitted with 1 strand of each yarn (4 strands) held together throughout.

SCARF

With 1 strand of each yarn held together, make a slip knot—first stitch on needle. Cast on 6 stitches – total of 7 stitches.

Work in garter stitch until piece measures 44” [112 cm]. Loosely bind off all stitches. Weave in ends.

The Fuzzy Fuschia Scarf

When I bought this fuzzy yarn I asked everyone whose scarf it should become. Everyone said "Pamela", and so it is. This is her absolute favorite color.

I used Moda-Dea Tiara -3 balls - Pinky
and 2 balls of Bernat Frenzy in fuschia.
The pattern is called "Stamen Stitch". It's a slip stitch pattern. Any multiple of 2 plus 1 will work for this pattern.

Size 12 needles.

Holding both yarns together cast on 21 stitches.
Row 1 Knit
Row 2* Knit 1, with yarn in back, slip one purlwise; repeat from* ending with knit 1.
Row 3 Knit
Row 4 Knit 2, * with yarn in back, slip 1 purlwise, knit 1; repeat from * ending with knit 2.
Repeat rows 1-4 until the scarf is about 50 inches long. Bind off.

JoAnne's Fuzzy Scarf

This one was really fast. I made it for another JoAnne. We have three JoAnne's at the library. Martha is modeling the scarf. It's actually jade green, but the picture keeps coming out blue.

I worked it in garter stitch. I used 1 skein of Lion Brand Jiffy and 2 balls of Moda Dea Prima Eyelash Yarn.

Using size 12 needles cast on 18.
Knit twelve rows with knit with a strand of both yarns held together.
Next twelve rows knit with just the Jiffy yarn.
Alternate the sections for nine sections, ending with the two strand section.
Bind off.

The Wonderful Striped Scarf That Took a Long Time to Knit

What would a scarf made with sock self-striping yarn look like? I asked myself this question, bought 2 skeins of Moda Dea Sassy Stripes sock yarn and went to work with number 6 needles. Here’s the pattern:

Cast on 26 stitches.
Row 1 -Knit 3, *(slip e purlwise, knit 2), repeat across the row from *, ending with knit 3.
Row 2 – purl across the row.
Row 3 – Knit 1, *(slip e purlwise, knit 2), repeat across the row from *, ending with knit 1.
Row 4 – purl across the row.

Repeat rows 1-4 until you’ve used up two skeins of yarn. Cast off.

It’s a wonderful scarf, but it took three weeks to knit because I was using size 6 needles. The scarf is for JoAnne, whose birthday was back at the end of May. I am behind on birthday scarves.

When I have more time to knit (that is when the garden is asleep for the winter) I may even make a vest for myself out of this yarn.
