I have spent the past three years knitting birthday scarves and felted purses for each of the 72 staff members at my library. I have tried to use a different yarn, technique or stitch with each scarf. I have included patterns for the scarves on my blog. When this project is done I'll start to knit more ambitious projects.

The Basketweave Scarf
This one was easy. I used a confetti fun fur type yarn and a crinkly sport weight yarn combined, one strand of each knit together. I got the yarn at Wal-Mart. Who knew they sold yarn at Wal-Mart!
It takes three balls of the fuzzy yarn and two skeins of the crinkly yarn. I used size 11 needles.
Cast on 20 stitches.
Rows 1-4 - Knit 5, purl5 across - This looks like a wide rib
Rows 5-8 - Purl 5, knit 5 across. - This reverses the rib.
This pattern works with any even multiple of 5.
Repeat rows 1-8 until the scarf is long enough and bind off.
